Economic Downturn, Turn Up

Just how many people are experiencing the effects of this economic downturn is being reported by various statisticians. I know that stimulus funds have helped some banks and other financial institutions to improve their circumstances. But some credit card companies, affected by this downturn, are placing limits on small businesses; the price of gas is creeping upward; some food packages are reduced in size with higher price tags and the list goes on. President Obama has said in the past that financial issues are subject to make a negative turn before things get better. I am looking forward to the economic downturn that is in my path to turn up. A sudden upward turn would be awesome!

June Gloom 2009 in Southern California

The experience in my life of "June Gloom" seems to be more pronounced this year than in previous years. The economic downturn, rising prices, warring factions in Afghanistan, Pakistan and settlement issues in Israel that loom in the news media are a constant reminders of challenges that our President faces are overwhelming. President Obama and his wife each seem to be able to manage their challenges with exceptional skills. The wars, the economy and health care are serious issues that need to be addressed with viable solutions. Republican members of Congress continue to detain the wheels of progress with the kind of rhetoric that provides evidence that the "base" is unaware of the big picture. The big picture in the 21st Century includes a diverse population representatives on each continent who want to share in the comfort of peace. When the June Gloom transitions to Summer Sun, will we sense a change ... maybe steps toward progress?

Focusing on the Moment

So much time is spent recalling past experiences and events in order to make plans for the future. My life seems to be rapidly moving from one moment to the next and I'm missing the immediacy of time. Right now the focus of this moment is wrapped up in my thoughts about the message that I am recalling from John 17: 6-19 where Jesus is talking to Father. He has completed the work that Father sent Him to do. He asks Father to protect those whom HE was given from the evil one so that they may be one with the Father as He is one with the Father. This message speaks to "joy" being made complete in "themselves". As I continue to build my faith in knowing that the abundance of the universe is always moving with force toward a gift--some call it grace, I should never worry. If one moves with the "gut level feeling", i.e. listen to the Spirit within, the experience of life is a reality... "my yoke is easy and my burden is light".

The "Newness" of Spring

Somehow the month of May excites my fancy with the new growth.. blooming, colorful flowers; trees sprouting new foliage. My thoughts often turn to love; spring fashions especially delight my aesthetic nerve. The school year is winding down where students are involved with assessments and evaluation procedures to determine the year's progress. This spring season has found me excited about how much more I know about using the computer than I knew during the spring season one year ago. What does it mean to just ramble....?
